She was awarded first class degrees at both institutions.
Sarah began playing the flute at the age of eight and, over the next decade, won many classes at local music festivals, being named ‘Young Performer of the Year’ a grand total of eight times. Following these successes, Sarah was invited to play at the Millennium Festival in Leeds and in the Millenium Dome. She has also progressed three times to the Regional Final of BBC Young Musician of the Year.
Sarah continues to perform regularly as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Notably, Sarah is the flautist for the Da Capo Duo (flute and classical guitar) and The Sterling Trio (flute, clarinet and piano), chamber groups which are becoming established throughout Britain. Last summer, Sarah performed at the BBC Summer Proms in association with Carte D’Or, and broadcast live on local radio in Manchester. She has recently performed for the Association of European Conservatoires and at the British Flute Society Convention 2008. Sarah is currently a soloist and animateur with the Concordia Foundation, and with various ensembles has performed at St. John's, Smith Square, the Barbican Centre, Bridgewater Hall, the Millennium Dome, the Edinburgh Festival and in France, Germany, Austria and Malta.

Formed
in September 2003 at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Da Capo Duo
has firmly established itself in Greater Manchester and the surrounding area as
a versatile performing ensemble. Having been accepted onto the RNCM’s
Professional External Engagements list, the duo has developed a busy concert
schedule, recently performing live on local radio. Da Capo Duo has performed
extensively in collaboration with LIME (a co-operative venture between Music in
Hospitals and Live Music Now), taking them into the heart of the local
community, as well as giving many recitals. They were selected in October 2005
to become part of the scheme ‘Lost Chord’ which works with dementia sufferers on
a personal level. Through this variety of work, their experience and teamwork is
apparent, and audiences have commented on their rapport, clear communication and
the professional manner in which they present themselves and their music.
“…Absolutely professional. Excellent ensemble and completely accomplished…”
(Melinda Maxwell, Head of Woodwind Studies at the RNCM)
